Flying Frustration...

Today we flew to the town Mount Beauty - there's a 5 k (? approx) or so crossing you have to do from the launch at Mystic to get there and while you cross, your landing options are very limited. It's pretty much all trees and would certainly be a bitch to walk out from, that is, if you somehow managed to get down from those 100 ft+ trees!

The distance to the town itself isn't very far (10 k's or something?), but the crossing is what makes it a route not everyone feels comfortable taking. This was the second time I flew there, but jeez, I was frustrated in the air...

It was one of those days which you think you have figured out and you fly to a spot thinking the perfect thermal is waiting there for you and there turns out to be dick-all. And then you get low, scratch your way up and do it again. Meanwhile things like having your glider feel like it's depressurizing, pressuring again and then going a bit ape-shit on you is always fun as well - not! Thank god I've taken 2 SIV courses - I can usually get that stuff sorted pretty quickly...

Anyway, it really was a good flying day and as usual I learned a lot. I have to learn to stop getting so frustrated when I make mistakes and better that I make them now then at a comp...I'm learning, I'm learning.

Tomorrow I will thermal smarter, dammit!
