Aussie Update

I wish I could say that I’ve been flying a lot lately, but that hasn’t really been the case.

The weather out here has been a bit funny with rain one minute then sun the next, so it hasn’t really been consistent. Yesterday I got in a flight which was maybe 25 minutes or so – the conditions weren’t great, but it was nice to be in the air. Tomorrow looks promising so we’ll see.

Here are some random pictures of big trees, birds, town square and a kangaroo. Yes, I saw some in the wild! They remind me of a cross between a giant rat and a rabbit. They are SO cute…I wish I could have one! I’m going to have to sneak up on them and get some better pictures within the next 5 months…

Today one of the pilots gave me a lesson on driving a manual. I’m somewhat accustomed to driving on the left side of the road, so today we decided to kick it up a notch. The lesson went well, although for whatever reason I find stick shifts kind of hard to drive. Everyone says how easy they are, and I hope one day that’ll be the case for me. And if I’m labelled as a North American idiot meanwhile for not knowing how to drive one properly, then so be it! I will stick a Canadian flag on the car if I have to and just smile –I may not know how to drive a manual, but I still call the greatest country in the world, home!

Other than that, I’ve been starting to miss everyone back in Calgary. Although meeting new people is great, nothing beats talking to a good friend. Mental note to be on skype more often.
