A 40K Kind of Day

A new personal best for me today - I flew 40 k! Man...what a great last few days...

I'm so exhausted, so I won't write much, but yesterday I went for a tandem ride where one of the pilots showed me the area, and after an hour and a half of freezing our assess off at base, we landed. He did some super-sweet spirals on the way down which was just the cherry on top - weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Today I launched great, got to base within a few minutes and pushed forward. There were a few us who plowed ahead and although I couldn't keep up with some of the other pilots speed-wise, I made up for it in pretty good thermalling and low saves....one 50 m from the ground and then back up to base - not too shabby!

I'm so psyched right now...everything's finally coming together. I'm ok with turbulance, I'm ok with flying underneath clouds and I'm more than ok with the way my glider handles. No big collapses - it's been good.

Tomorrow I'll make another attempt at going big (this time experimenting with ballast) and see what happens.

Paragliding kicks ass!
